The flu is going around something wicked here. A bunch of my friend have got it or are over it. I've got it, Ginger is coming down with it and even poor Sweet Pea has it. My poor baby just wants her Daddy when I'm up there with her. She fusses and meows if I'm not holding her. She's not even coming down to the bottom of the stairs to greet me when I come to bed. She just waits at the top until I go to bed.
My new ps2 game NASCAR Dirt to Daytona came in a few days ago. I've been playing the career mode and have hardly stopped long enough to go pee. I'm using the steering wheel and now I've got a blister on my palm from it. I had to go and get a pair of work gloves to wear when I play.
I got word yesterday that Pamida will be closing in August. ShopKo was supposed to take over but they decided that Ontonagon can't provide enough sales to make it feasible for them to keep it open. Ontonagon doesn't have anything to draw people in. Subway, the paper mil, Maple Manor, EMS, the flower shop, the movie store, at&t cell all gone. They closed down the elementary school and put the kids in the high school. Now that beautiful building is empty. Maple is sitting empty, Pamida will sit empty. They tore down the mil and are fixing to tear up the train tracks. There is almost one whole block on River Street (our main street which is a dead end OBTW) sits empty. There is absolutely nothing left other than a pretty sign which cost 16k on the edge of town. I won't be suprised when Aspirus puts out of the hospital. Ontonagon hospital is a drain on Asprius's profits. Someone was telling me that Ontonagon cost Aspirus one million bucks a year. This is making me sick. I love this little town and it won't survive in this economy. I almost wish we hadn't bought the house. When the house is paid off I may put it on the market. We've got a while yet so we'll see when the time comes.
The flu is kicking my hind end so I'm off to bed.-
