We've gone from a watch to a warning with this weeks snow storm. I truly hope we get lots of snow.
We are desperate for it. Without snow our tourism has crashed. The snowmobile races are a bust and the trails have nothing.


 Winter Storm Warning 


... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this
evening to 1 PM EST /noon CST/ Friday... 

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow... which is in effect
from 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening to 1 PM EST /noon CST/ Friday.
The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

Hazardous weather... 

* rain and snow late today will change to snow early this evening.
   Periods of heavy snow are expected tonight through Thursday and
   Thursday night. Snow will begin to diminish by Friday morning.

* Storm total snowfall in excess of 12 inches is expected.

* Wind gusts up to 35 mph... especially along the shore and in 
   the Keweenaw peninsula... may cause blowing snow leading to 
   reduced visibilities. 

Impacts... 

* travel is expected to become difficult later tonight through
   Thursday and Thursday night due to heavy snow and blowing snow.

* Brief whiteout conditions are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions... 

* a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means
   severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
   Significant amounts of snow... along with widespread blowing
   snow... are forecast that will make travel dangerous.
