I think we are now officially into fall. 2 days ago it was 95 and yesterday and today it never made it over 65. Today we're making a batch of homemade chili. I have never had a better chili than the one we make. I'm thinking about maybe the next time Ontonagon has a chili contest I'm going to enter ours. Monday while Ginger was at work she met a man who is into ham radio. she told him about me and he gave her his call sign and phone number and to have me call him. I called yesterday and left a message and I'm still waiting to hear back from him. I looked up his call sign on the ARRL website and he's an Extra class ham. I'm hoping we can hook up some time. I'm really enjoying all the studying and things I'm learning from the books and mp3's I have. I'm hoping this fella will take me under his wing and become my Elmer. An Elmer is the ham radio term for tutor. I found this program called Hamsphere that simulates the 40 and 80 meter bands online. There is no RF so I don't have to worry about messing up and getting in trouble with the FCC. So far I've made 2 contacts or QSO's. I know I'm famous for getting into something and then jumping whole hog and then get in over my head but ham radio has been an interest of mine for over 20 years. I'm just now finally going to take it to the next level or 2. I'm getting ready for my introduction lisense (Tech) on October 4 and then the next test session go for General. I'm not sure if I'll go any higher then general but it is something to think about. I had a friend from a ham help group send me his old general and extra class book and they look very intimidating. Lots of math. Heck I still can't balance the check book. Put it this way up until a couple of weeks ago I thought Calculas was math using a calculator. Am I a blonde?
Oh yeah I got a package in the mail a couple of days ago from my folks. Thank you Dad and Sue. They sent us an old photo album of our family trip to Disney World back in '86. We sat down together and boy does those pictures bring back memories. they also sent me 3 pairs of shorts which I desperately needed and 2 cd's of Paul Shanklin political parodies. Paul Shanklin does the music for Rush Limbaugh. I firmly believe Rush and Paul are genious's. Thank you Dad for showing me how to love. I watched you love Mom and later love Sue. I learned a ton I just wish I could love myself and not run away from family. I've said and done some very hurtful and hateful things. I wish I could fix what I broke. Thanks again Dad and Sue. I love you guys very much.
